Ephesians
St. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians is a profound New Testament epistle that first grounds believers firmly in their identity in Christ. In its opening chapters, Paul celebrates the riches of God’s grace, the believer’s adoption as God’s children, their redemption through Christ’s blood, and their glorious union with Him as members of His body, the Church. Once this solid foundation of who Christians are in Christ is established, the letter then issues a powerful call to live lives worthy of this high calling. Paul urges believers to walk in humility, gentleness, patience, and love; to maintain unity in the Spirit; to put off the old self and put on the new; and to live in purity, honesty, wisdom, and marital faithfulness. The epistle culminates in a stirring exhortation to stand firm against the spiritual attacks of the enemy, equipping Christians with the full armor of God—truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, the Word of God, and prayer—so they may withstand evil and advance victoriously in their daily walk.
